The Army ROTC scholarship application window is now open.

Application link: http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/high-school-students/four-year-scholarship.html

Here are the requirements for the scholarship, along with completing the application:

· You must be a U.S. citizen
· You must be between the ages of 17 and 26
· You must have a high school GPA of at least 2.50
· You must have a high school diploma or equivalent (high school seniors are considered on track to graduate with a diploma)
· You must score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)
· You must complete a physical fitness test (one minute of push-ups, one minute of curl ups and one mile run; a qualified PE official will certify your scores.)
· You must conduct a formal interview with the Professor of Military Science at an Army ROTC Battalion at any university, either near you or at your choice university.

There are a total of three National Board Deadlines that will occur during your senior year. It is in your best interest to have your scholarship application completed no later than 6 Oct 16, to make sure you have time to successfully complete the physical test and submit all required documents. However, you may apply any time after 12 Jun 17 and before 4 Feb 18.

Here is the list of your National Board Deadlines:

Application opens on 12 June 17*: Submit Documents By*:

1st National Board: 2-6 October 2017 17 September 2017
2nd National Board: 22-26 January 2018 7 January 2018
3rd National Board: 19-23 March 2018 4 March 2018

*If you fail to submit all your requirements and documents before a board date, your application will roll over into the next board deadline.

This is a highly competitive scholarship. Don’t let the requirements dissuade you from applying. You will never know if you don’t try – you could become one of our next commissioned officers!

Thank you for ALL the info I will show my DD, she is @ West Point now in SLE :)
Also, one question, if she filled most of the online application, grades, etc, can she wait and put it on hold to make the PFT around September ( and have a higher score)?, or if she filled this month she have to do the PFT and interview right away?
Thank you.

As your DD completes the requirements they can be added to the application. The recommendation is to complete the application before the first board.

Great information. Question - it appears the Navy and Air Force are moving to award more 3, 3.5 and 2 year scholarships versus the 4 year scholarship. Is this also true of the Army? Also, if the student fails to receive a 3 or 4 year scholarship before entering the college of his/her choice, once at the college is it possible to apply for the 3 year scholarship during the freshman year - and a follow on to this question - is this application in competition nationally or within the college detachment. Much appreciate your interest and any help you can provide.

The ROOs' will have exact detailed but my understanding is the Army is also awarding fewer 4 yr and more 3 yr scholarships. If you are awarded a 3 yr it is entirely possible to have it upgraded to a 3.5 yr if you do well in the beginning.

The ROO's will correct me if I'm wrong, but you apply through the college detachment and it is NOT a national award. As I understand it, there is money designated for a region/college which is divvied up for the shorter term scholarships. You do need to take the ROTC class as a college programmer.

Correct. The application through the college detachment is a campus based scholarship, so you are only competing against other cadets in your program.
