Army space program

As a 2LT, you don't. While the basic requirements are being a US Citizen, holding a degree in s STEM field, and passing a NASA level physical, the people who are ultimately chosen have many years of experience and it is HIGHLY competitive. There were two chosen last year... a Ranger-tabbed doctor who served with Special Forces and a helicopter pilot with more than 800 combat flying hours... one was a LTC and the other a MAJ.

If you desire to do this eventually, it is an AWESOME goal! Keep moving forward with your career as it is. Excel in all you do. Follow the NASA program closely and the careers of the current and past astronauts and use them to model your career decisions.

If you're looking at space as in satellite operation, the army does operate satellite payloads for multiple different constellations. I'm pretty sure these are operated by signal battalions, so if you branch signals and happen to get assigned to a battalion that does this you'd get to work on satellites.
