Army vs Navy 2022

Yes, but from what I have seen, the FAA doesn't really get involved unless a larger issue comes of something. Controllers are not out there to bust people. They typically only do so when it causes a safety of flight issue. A lot of times, even when told to contact the tower for a possible pilot deviation, the conversation is usually a cordial and the purpose is for both sides to learn something. Ping pong balls and paper strips are not likely to cause danger to person or property, so I think it fits the bill. Also, considering CDR Garras' coverage, it seems that they went through all the official channels, so nothing likely would have been compromised. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they called the Flight Standards District Officer (FSDO) for New York to get approval. I don't think the mids would get approval if there were possible negative consequences.

This also appears to not be the first time this has happened to the Cadets: https://www.athletesofvalor.com/articles/the-army-navy-rivalry-game

Sounds like they pulled out and dusted an old plan!
All interesting stuff- thanks!

My only pause I'm stuck on , is buying the reported details that 3 pilots would drop anything out of a plane directly onto people, causing them to scramble for cover/ break formation. I think they would pick empty areas instead of populated ones as a defendable choice to avoid any consequence or drama or cause an injury - in this case very unlikely - perhaps a scratched cornea from laminated paper or someone tripping over the ping pong balls while running for cover from the ambush. Just my opinion, but I think most pilots would avoid a direct drop and too that the Farmingdale / Albany FDSOs would pause to condone a plan to do that.

But life surprises me often, I'm oft proven incorrect, and perhaps we'll see video affirming this actually did go down as described. Above all I love the fun/ entertainment and cleverness of this story and even imagining it happened as described is great. Thanks for a good discussion and for making my day now 2 days in a row - Fly Navy!

The PAO who wrote the press release is a classmate of DH. In their private class group on fb she shared this and received lots of BZs and laughs. Someone asked for footage of cadets breaking formation and running around. So far she responded with “Standby 😇”. I’ll see what else I can find out!

Hi All - I have not seen any posts around this, but does anyone have the secret to affordable parking near/at the stadium? The lowest I could find is $166. . .Yikes, that is more than the game ticket

That's wild! Lincoln Financial has $45/car $90/SUV on the website. I would try here.

The one thing about that URL, no link to buy at that price :(

I've always paid as I entered. I'm told its $45 this year and from personal experience, there is lots of parking there.

This is great feedback. So I drop off the grandparents, then can go find one of the lots. I was afraid there would not be any parking remaining based on what I am seeing for prices.

Is there typically an issue with Handicap Spots? Grandfather cannot walk to far, and has a handicap tag.

I don't know about Handicapped policies, it is after all Philadelphia and they're the people who boo Santa Claus.

Are Mids sent to a special area to park if in personal vehicles? Or are they to park with the masses?

I believe certain lots have a limited spots, check with the Linc website or call the Eagles tkt office.

As a retired controller, who once worked on Long Island, I can tell you, if the controllers knew about it, they probably helped them, laughing the whole time. In 27 years, I can count on both hands how many times we filed a pilot deviation or called FSDO and I've seen some stupid stuff. The VFR corridor would be easy for 3 small aircraft to fly in or out of formation. My question is, if there were 5 of them, which pilot was dropping stuff on the plane while flying? Hard to do in a warrior since the door is on the passenger side. As an aside, there's a competition in Plymouth, MA (home of the Mayflower) where pilots drop bags of flour out on a target (get it..flour?).

I wouldn't be surprised if it was two teams of a pilot and dropmaster and the fifth pilot was the photo plane.
