Has anybody else been watching that new series "Army Wives" on Lifetime? Any opinions on the show?

I enjoy the storyline and I have fun watching for mistakes. For example, when the Major's son received his acceptance to West Point it was a regular size, thin envelope instead of the large envelope with the appointment folder.

I long ago gave up on any TV show (and almost any movie) being even remotely accurate when it comes to the military. While I find some screwups humorous (the AimPoint sights on the SEALs M4's in "Tears of the Sun" are installed backwards), some really tick me off, such as the attack sequence in "Pearl Harbor" and the entire movie "Annapolis" (which I continue to refuse to see based entirely on the 30 seconds of it I saw in the previews).

I suspect it won't be the first mistake you spot.

Trust me, you're not missing anything in Annapolis. Ugh, its was just terrible.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh "Army Wives" -The Lifetime channel at it's best!
I confess it is the newest "girl" show in our house - though my future soldier refuses to watch it!
I have to say last night's episode was a little over the top.
But yeah the West Point thing was way off - and the kid didn't even want to go!

Both my sons and my husband just chuckle at my "girl" shows.

I read the book the series is based on. It's a true story that follows four women at Ft. Bragg in 2002. I can see how the four women in the TV series tie in to the four women in the book but the series has gone far from the true story. I knew that it would, it is just interesting to see how far they go for a storyline.

JAM - last night when they were talking with the female Lt. Col. about what happened in Afghanistan, it sounded like she was leading an infantry (or some other combat arms type) squad. Which would not happen in the real Army.

Yep I caught that - I also thought the whole hostage thing was totally off the wall - oh well
does the book have the woman who met her soldier and married him 17 days later?

I don't think it was 17 days but it was quick. I can relate to that. I met my husband in June 1986 and married him September 6, 1986. We'll be married 21 years in September...and everybody thought it wouldn't last!
