AROTC “School of Intent” Ranking Advice

Hi, I am hesitant on how I should rank my schools (especially since I haven’t been able to visit any or their units due to COVID). I have an Ivy League school marked as number one (where I probably won’t be accepted), but my 2nd choice is a little bit of a reach (40% acceptance rate) and I LOVE their AROTC unit (a scholarship at #2 also gives extra benefits I.e. covering room and board). Should I switch these? My thought was the Ivy League is more competitive so I should put it first, but quite honestly, I think I’d prefer the 2nd choice, bc it fits me and the Ivy League would be very challenging.

For an AROTC scholarship, it does not matter which school you list as your number 1 or 2. With that said, you should list a school within the top 3 that has accepted you or that you’re confident will accept you.

Just by the way you wrote those few sentences the non-Ivy seems like a much bettter fit for you, because 1) you like it better, do not go to a school you don't love you'll spend your time hating it and wondering "what if" at the other school 2) free room and board is HUGE deal, and will save you so so much $$
