AROTC 2nd Board Waiters 2015

The wording of my interviewing PMS was that (s)he would be surprised if I was completely passed over on the national board and reassured me a scholarship at his participating schools.
Out of respect for the PMS I'll look into sending you a PM.
Sure thing :) I just think that they all have different thresholds, and most of these tier b schools are struggling to meet their contracting quotas (especially stem majors,) so they have relatively lower standards as to who they give scholarships to. However, I was also told that I would most likely get a 3 year not a 4 year. For what it's worth, I can afford a year of college and don't "need it"

Best of luck to all of you. I think you might be underestimating with that 600 number. :)
According to what i read in another thread, 900 were boarded, about 300 were given scholarships. That leaves 600 rolled over from the first board, that are just hoping the OML drops enough to put us in the bracket.

My heart goes out to all of us who were passed over, and are just waiting for the standards to drop. [emoji14] But good luck to you all. May you be blessed with better fortune, (and better grades) than us.

600 may have been rolled over from the first board to the second but you are not counting those applications that only made it into the second board (were too late for the first board). You are competing with first board rollovers and new applications.

This is the comment I'm refering to [emoji14] I'm sure there are more than 600 of us. Yes, you're right. There are just the 600 who didnt make the cut, and are desperately hoping the metaphorical limbp bar moves up, so we can get through.
I've been boarded since October and I've had my fingers crossed for this board since then!
600 of these people. ^^^

Ok, I now understand what you meant, your right, there are probably about 600 applicants that were rolled over to the second board.

The first board not only gives the fewest scholarships but also has the fewest number that are boarded.

Last year the total number of scholarship applicants processed by Cadet Command was about 12,000. As you can see the second and third board have a very large number of new applicants that were not seen by the first board. For each board they take the new applicants and those that were rolled over and combine them on a new OML for that board.

Best of luck to all those rolled from the first board and all the new applicants.

Question- 12,000 is a lot of applicants. Are there some applicants who never get to the boarded phase? Perhaps they had low scores, poor GPA, etc... DO you know approximately how many scholarships get awarded? I know it will vary from year to year, but a ballpark figure will do. I'm just trying to get a better grasp on the process.

Thanks,
Bill

Clarkson may help round out the numbers but from what I saw for last year there were at least 10,000 boarded and the award rate was around 20%.

There are always some out of that 12,000 plus number that either don't complete their application or do not meet the minimum requirements. Your correct though, it is still a very large number, a few years back the number was tipping out at around 15,000.

You need to stop thinking this way. I understand what you're trying to say but just because you didn't get picked on the 1st board means absolutely nothing when it comes to how effective a soldier or leader you will be. No disrespect intended to those chosen in the 1st board but being a rocket scientist with a 4.5 GPA and an ACT score of 36 doesn't necessarily translate into being an effective leader and what the Army (and the White House) needs more than anything is effective, dedicated individuals to LEAD.

Could not have said that better.
