I thought I had seen this ave. score combined for 4 year winners but cannot find it. My DS is junior and we are getting closer to his time to apply. I have a pretty good idea where he will score on 3 of the 6 categories. Are the score of successful applicants public knowledge? Am I just not finding it in my forum search?

@gooseblitz - not sure that my DS ever got his total score from his application process He obviously knew his test scores, GPA and fitness test , but I don't remember him getting a summary of the total score.

Gotcha. I though I saw it here before but search turn up mostly scores for the parts/categories.
he is a 4.0 unweighted and 4.3 weighted and about to sit for his first SAT. 2 sport athlete, has a job and is a 3 year class officer. National Honor Society and a handful of clubs. I was wondering if he needed more if SAT is not as stellar as his grades.

The thing you hear over and over is Leadership, Athletics and Academics. You also have the essays, interview and the CBEF - all very important. It is also very hard to compare one candidate vs another due to the unknowns. What helped my DS was building his resume and listing ALL of the things he had done in high school. These included all of the community service, clubs, athletic accomplishments, academic accomplishments....This exercise forced him to really think about each year as well as highlight the things he needed to focus on the 2nd part of his Junior year and senior year to strengthen his application. This resume evolved over his Junior year and summer before senior year. It was also a great data sheet for him to use in crafting his essays and prepare for his interviews.

You can search this forum as many members have posted their stats. I spent 6 months reading posts and it is shocking the amount of information that in contained within "these walls". Good luck and get ready for an exciting journey!

Of particular importance - spend some time reading all of the posts by @Montana State Army ROTC - very informative for a parent as well as a candidate.

As mentioned, you also have the PFA, and then the big components are the PMS interview and the CBEF, and you will never know how you scored on those. I also feel like I've seen an average score out of the total 1400 points for scholarship winners, but it won't mean much to you because of the unknown variables for PMS Interview and CBEF. I think there is enough info out there regarding scores for what you do control (such as activities, GPA, SAT, PFA) to give you a read on the strength of your DS's candidacy.

no one knows the total score except the one gentleman who draws the lines on the spreadsheet to delineate 4 yr, 3AD, and non-selects. Don't try game the system. Each candidate is unique and each candidate has too many variables to compare yourself too. A file takes 3+ years to build.

The good thing is that if the 1st setting of SAT isn’t as strong as he hopes, as a jr, he has time yet to study and retake. There are a lot of great and even free study resources out there. Yes there are a lot of unknown variables, but it sounds like he is off to a great start on building a strong application package. Best of luck to your son!

Thanks for all the info guys. Very much appreciated. Great info here on this forum every time I start looking he and I are both planners so trying to be ahead of the process. In the end he looks good on paper but will need to come across in interview as the kind of young man who will the Army will want to to craft into an officer. Probably the area he stands out the most in is his ability to engage in intelligent conversations with adults better than todays teens so I am sure he will do fine. He will prepare to give an honest, thoughtful and confident answer and try to not let the situation effect him.

My son took it twice, improved his grade by 90 points the second time

I received a 4-year on the first board this last fall but for my PMS interview it was with the closest AROTC college I could find (me thinking it would be an in person socially distanced interview and the drive would be shortest to this said school) when in reality it was all online. Whether it is or isn't this coming fall I recommend he reaches out to one of his top schools for the scholarship and schedules the PMS interview with that school because looking back I wish I would have been able to introduce myself and get a better feel for my top school through the interview.

Thanks for the info. He is reaching out to schools now. He needs to narrow the list down some before he start reaching out I think. I think he will apply to a few stretch schools and safe schools in the end. They all look like good choices to me so far...
