Hi all,

I was accepted for a 4 year AROTC scholarship for CU Boulder. I am planning to double major in Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science. The way the course sequences shake out, I would need a fifth year of school to complete both majors. During my PMS interview, my interviewer discussed how the Army will pay a fifth year of tuition benefits for students pursuing degrees in technical fields. Despite this, I haven't found any resources online that discuss this. What hoops do I have to jump through to get this fifth year of benefits? Does it even apply to cadets going for double majors? Thanks in advance!

Talk to the cadre at CU Boulder when you arrive, or discuss with them by phone. That's your best bet for input on this unless one of the ROOs on this board chimes in.

You will not get that 5th year for a second major...the Army only pays for one major. If you are in a major like engineering at some schools that is advertised as a 5 year program then your scholarship will pay for a fifth year. If either of the majors is typically a 5 year program you are good. If not you’ll either have to overload, or take summer classes if you want both degrees. Keep in mind if you plan to serve active duty the Army teals doesn’t care if you have a second major.
