So, I'm hearing cryptic reports about a 'Beret Test' from DS, but it is not, apparently, yet time for me to get a direct answer to my inquiry. I have not heard of this here or any where before and am hoping someone here can fill me in. Perhaps it is just a 'thing' in his brigade.
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Probably just MS4s and cadre checking their berets to make sure they are properly formed.

That could mean a multitude of different things.

For us at PSU, for our Honor Guard, we have something called "Beret Testing" too. Don't quote me, but club staff is drawn from that test if I understand it correctly. This test is literally an all day (10-15+ hours) test of everything about Drill and Ceremony, Uniform inspection (AR 670-1 knowledge), written exams, and probably a few things that I'm forgetting. Passing the test yields you a grey beret, signifying that you passed the grueling Beret Test.

I wouldn't fret over it.

Well, I can report that I have be granted the opportunity to glean more information, and it all seems to be very much like Thompson describes, above.
Not worried at all, but it is always curious to me what motivates a kid to go the extra mile just ahead of finals.
Thanks for your interest and thoughts.
