AROTC Board 2

So back when I wrote this stuff my status had been left at "Board Ready" for the longest time, even after the Board had already met. That's when I made several attempts to representatives across Cadet Command to ask what that was about, as I had the suspicion that I was for some reason not looked at during the second board, despite having my materials in. Eventually I got a call during my 5th period class in school today from one person finally, and he asked what was up. I explained the situation to him, asked him to check his email, and he then contacted his supervisor on how to handle the situation. Later on I received a call from the supervisor stating that they would hold a mini Board of PMSs in the next hour to OML my application since they had no idea why my file was not reviewed. I thanked him, and later received notifications that I received a 4 year scholarship for WashU in St. Louis, Rice, and Cornell! I guess @kinnem 's advice on perseverance was undoubtedly true, and congrats to all who have or will receive a scholarship this time around. Cheers!
Kudos to Cadet Commad & a big congrats to you!

Well clearly there was something you could still do re Board 2! That's outstanding.

Assuming if still B/UC at this point will be pushed to the 3rd board. DS just missed being boarded 1st board. He has 1440 SAT 3.86 unweighted GPA, IB program, 7 AP tests and 13 college credits. Varsity Lacrosse and Tennis, NHS, lead engineer robotics, editor for newspaper, volunteering and working part time. Did decent on his PFA and felt interview went well.

He ihas 3 noms to SA and waiting to see if he will get an appointment.

Does he even have a shot at this point for AROTC scholarship? Thinking he may have to start looking at plan C.

Yes, he definitely still has a shot as there is one more board left. Good luck.

On paper, he looks an awful lot like mine who was offered a 3y. I'd remain optimistic and he sounds like a solid SA applicant as well.

A, B and C at this point; D or more if necessary. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

His stats seem like my DS, except my DS has a lower GPA 3.48 ( weighted but the way his school weights not much difference between weighted and UW and no class rank) He had a compatible ACT at a 32 but did get a 36 on one section. He a varsity athlete ( CC And Track distance/ team captain for both ) has run and placed in age group for marathon. I know he maxed out the fitness assessment. He is also an Eagle Scout and a life guard. He also has interned for our congressman. He has 1 nomination to USMA and we are waiting on that. He did not go through the first board but was awarded a 4 year to three schools on the second board. Your DS stats look great. Maybe you will hear later this week or the next board. All the waiting when these kids just want to know where they will be in school next year is nerve wracking!! I wonder how they determine all of this. Is there one board or several and what is the consistent variables they are to follow. This would be nice to know as then folks could size their chances up better. Interviews are subjective. We had a very hard time getting one. Our local person never got back with my son after multiple attempts. He interviewed with someone 7 hours away via Skype. I hated it was done that way but we were down to the wire. Grateful that rep made time for him.

This is outrageous and totally unacceptable. Good on you for persevering, but it shouldn't require that. Very anecdotally, AROTC seems to be having the issues with this as against AFROTC and NROTC.

Updated to Winner. 4 year AROTC to Notre Dame or Purdue!
My site is not working and I cannot access it. Congratulations!! Out of curiosity, what are your GPA and ACT? And some of your leadership + CFT? I would like to compare my file to yours, since I have not yet heard back

Congrats to everyone who was picked up on this board! And to those still waiting, do not fret! Even if you do not get picked up off this last board, there are other opportunities out there once you get to college. I received a 4-year scholarship to my top three schools (Holy Cross, Boston University, and George Washington University) off the first board. Happy to say that I am attending Holy Cross next year! To help answer some questions on why or why not you received a scholarship, here are my stats:

- female
- applied as a political science major
- class rank: 3/112
- All A's in high school
- 9 AP classes
- 1330 SAT
- Class President
- NHS President
- Math HS VP
- NTHS member
- 50 volunteer hours an academic year
- three varsity sport athlete

Nice work! I’m curious to know if the 9 AP classes have been completed or that number includes the ones in which you’re currently enrolled. Thx!
