AROTC Board News - Scholarship!!!

It may be my schools email servers, but is a lack of an email either a rejection or reboarding? Will they send out more emails tomorrow or later?

I don't think anyone knows if they will send out more, but if you don't receive one from this board you'll simply be re-boarded for the January one! And the process continues on if you don't get one there. People usually aren't "rejected" until around April.

People keep posting school(s) plural. Are they likely to award us more than one of the schools on our list?

Congratulations to all, much deserved. Remember, this is merely the beginning. It's easy to get in, it's harder to stay. The ultimate prize is still a few years, tattoos, and knee surgeries away from becoming reality.

Take a quick break to relax and soak in what's been accomplished so far, then drive on and prepare for the journey ahead. I'm sure many of us that have been in ROTC for multiple years and danced the LDAC jig would be more than happy to help get you all ready for what lies ahead.

You can get it to just one school OR every one that you listed. It just depends, but it's fairly common to get multiple offers.

It's getting more common to receive an offer to just one school, last year more then half that posted here received an offer to only one school.

Congrats Y'all!

Congrats to everyone! So much fun reading these threads. Strength and Honor, your's actually brought a huge smile to my face.

I'm curious what majors folks put down on their scholarship applications.

Congradulations to everyone!! Does anyone know if these were sent out in bulk or if they are still working on notifying recipients?

DS put public policy as his major. He currently interns for a congressmen and writes press releases and is lovin it.

son requested 6 schools. In order his last choice was safety instate public university. The first five were all about the same overly-expensive-out-of-state-high-reach schools.

There are some in that five he wants more than others but would be extremely happy with four of the five, happy with one, and doesn't really want the instate ("everyone in my high school goes there...") school.

Im glad for this first step because he (like everyone) worked his butt off. However, he has obstacles along the way (like everyone) so I am not overly over the moon yet. Just glad we are still on the path and moving forward.

They have to get accepted to a college
they have to get accepted to a college that matches their scholarship or
they have to request a transfer
they have to get approved a transfer
they have to pass dodmerb

then when they get there the obstacles REALLY start.

Good Luck to all...

I would think they are finished sending out results for the 1st board (hoping not as DS did not receive the magic email) and it doesn't surprise me that some on this board with very impressive stats received the email. My DS took it in stride and said there is always next board but as a mom it's killing me.

It will be great to see the board light up again once the letters come in and we know the school choices. For those of us still waiting it would also be helpful to know basic stats on the final acceptances. (GPA, ACT/SAT, extras, in-state or out of state selection)

I'm the same way Vista, I've got all the expensive OOSs first on my list. You'd think since we are the first ~250 to get the scholarship they'd just give us our first choice, but I have no clue about the inner workings of Cadet Command, or how schools pick who to give scholarships to.

People have already been asking me what school I want the scholarship to go to, but seriously I'm fine with any of the 5 on my list. That's why they were on my list haha! Just super stoked I got it in the first place, I was preparing for long months of waiting!

Would just like to congratulate all of the scholarship winners! My son - Strength and Honor - was notified yesterday...and WE ARE BEYOND PROUD OF HIM!!!!!!!

Scholarship Awards

I'm new to this forum and am curious if anyone can provide some feedback on the AROTC scholarship selection process. My DD completed her application back in October, just in time for the October/November Board meeting. Looking at this thread, I see that the initial recipients have been chosen. Unfortunately, as of right now, she has not received an email. I am guessing she would have heard by now if she was selected this round. I have two questions that maybe those that received the scholarships could answer. One is, did they have all their paperwork in last spring/summer? I'm wondering if they are reviewed on a first come/first serve basis. Also, does anyone know the statistics/chances of receiving the scholarship if you are passed over on the first board? Any input would be much appreciated.

Congrats to all who received the "magic email". Bull is one of my favorite cadet posters - take his message to heart.

Congrats to all and best wishes. Time to start running and spending time in the gym.

I would just like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the posters who did not receive an email from Cadet Command yesterday, but still offered their most gracious congratulations to those who were celebrating. Your honesty about being disappointed and your determination to remain optimistic is honorable and characteristic of future officers. This game is far from over, so hang in there! You can do this! :thumb:

If you read through previous threads there are posters that state that only ~250 scholarships come from the first board. This yr is different for multiple reasons (ie shutdown, new computer system etc etc). (How's that for a nonhelpful nonanswer?)

Son had every single thing completed by ~sept 1.
We rushed because he was taking time if school for an overseas trip and didn't want him to have to complete this process and make up school work.

Don't get daunted by these postings:

1. The population on these boards may be more likely to be first boarders and not indicative of the general applicant
2. Many will turn down their scholarship for a service academy.
3. Many wont make it through Dodmerb
4. Some will just decline the offer all together.

Notification

My friend with similar numbers as me received the email yesterday and I am wondering how long I can realistically wait until I should move on and wait to hear back from the January board.
