Can a particular unit have their own requirements as to when they will allow an applicant to schedule an interview for AROTC scholarship? The portal opens up the interview information about scheduling when the transcript and test scores have been verified. But, the unit that DD contacted said she could not interview until her file is complete. She is completed with everything except PFT as she was going to wait until school started in a few weeks so she could do it with the PE teacher. She was trying to schedule the interview before school started so she would not miss any school.

I'm not sure if they can have their own requirements, but when DS interviewed with the AROTC, they had him redo the PFT at that time (he had already taken it before he arrived). Seniors are allowed 'college days' to research campuses - we took his interview day as one of those.

You are kind of at the mercy of the PMS/program with regards to the interview. Some schools are sticklers and some aren’t. If you were coming to Clarkson to interview I might ask you to try to have someone else give you the PFT or offer to have you take it when you interview. We might even interview you without the PFT if you have a lot of sports on your resume and are obviously physically fit. I believe somewhere in one of the regulations it does say that the interviewer is supposed to verify the PFT and height/weight. In my mind the PFT is not the most critical part of the process. I usually expect all the essays to be done before you come for the interview, but that isn’t a requirement either. You might want to consider trying another school, or just plan to miss a day, or plan to interview on a holiday.
