Hello all,

Wondering which components and max standards are being used for the AROTC scholarship applicants this year. We have read various versions of the AROTC fitness test and wondering which one is accurate understanding there is a difference between the ROTC scholarship applicant test and the PFA once in actual AROTC as well as a discussion of merging both or amending it recently.

Is this one correct:
1 min Push-ups with max for Males at 50
1 min Sit-ups with max for Males at 50
1 mile run with max for Males at 6:30

We have seen other versions that list a 1.5 mile and a 2-mile run.

Thank you all so much for the guidance!

For the scholarship application, applicants take the CCFA. In order to contract, cadets have to pass the CCFA. For retention in the program and to commission, cadets take the ACFT.

Thank you very much for the clarification - one more please - are the specifics I noted above for the CCFA then?

I'm an incoming 4-year scholarship winner and my battalion XO says that we have to pass the ACFT to contract.... I was almost certain it's the CCFA since they made us re-take it over the summer but now I'm not 100% sure. I think he may also be new and we handed in a bunch of paperwork over the summer for specifically contracting so I'm really not sure.

You have to pass the CCFA to contract. That is the only test currently authorized for contracting. You may take the ACFT as a diagnostic, but it is not a test of record so it can't be used for contracting. Looks like you have to change your username if you are doing ROTC.

Always found it interesting how different locations take creative liberties with the guidelines..

My kid went through similar issues, this summer. Some in the "chain" told him that the CCFA was the means of measure. The next day, someone emailed him and stated the ACFT was the new weapon of choice, for contracting. The following week, another email stated his unit was likely using the 2-2-2 for their assessment.

He's fine doing any of the tests mentioned...but would love to see some consistency in their communication to incoming cadets.

I suppose this is his first glimpse at the well-oiled machine we call DoD!!!!!

Ahhhhhh.......the memories. 😁

Thanks for the defined clarification with the contracting, and also I'm a re-applicant for USMA 2026.
