First, extremely grateful for the offer - Received an Ike Skelton offer. Initially considering NMMI (but open to the other institutions).

Was curious of the pros and cons:
  1. How are the transfers to 4 year institutions viewed by upper tier schools? (Ivy's, Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt etc.) or is this considered "bottom rung."
    • Please don't consider this my sentiment, just the "academic snobs," or "Academy mafia's" seem to have this pass extended for the 1st 5 years of their career, after they land in the full time Army to O3. It's sink or swim thereafter.
  2. Do the MJC graduates get branched upon commissioning?
    • Personal references are MI or Signal (Understand - this has to be earned)
    • Are the MJC's considered more earning of their 1st branch choice verses regular AROTC, Citadel, Norwich, Texas A & M, or VMI and of course USMA?
  3. Do you attend OBC immediately after commissioning?
  4. Does the MJC graduate need to find a Reserve or Guard Unit upon commissioning?
  5. Can a Reserve or Guard unit contract to slot for a MJC candidate?

My son was offered the Ike Skelton scholarship after the 2nd board. Anyone can PM me if you'd like to know what we thought and learned about it.
