AROTC Interview

Well - glad it's being put to good use!

So, there's no phone number listed? Just that little message function. Unfortunately I do not have any other solutions if this is what it seems to look like.

I just logged into DS application portal to see if there's a phone number that perhaps I had not noticed before, but there is none. There's nothing but an electronic means of communication. You can just imagine the money they are saving by having things structured this way.

The process seemingly has changed this year. Here is the quote from the AROTC application website: "Personal interview(s). If you are selected as a scholarship finalist, you must contact one of the schools listed in your notification letter (or any school of your choice) where you wish to have the interview conducted. Any travel to and from the interview will be at your own expense. " Others have indicated when they tried to set up an interview on their own, without prior approved from CC, the PMS they contact had no way to access the applicants records or add in the interview scores.

Son was given a list of five close schools, none were top choices. He emailed CC to get permission to switch to a top choice school, and also emailed PMS at top choice school to ask to be interviewed.

CC emailed him back saying they were not yet set up for interviews and would would get back to him. Son never heard back.

In the meantime the PMS emailed back saying 'lets do this' son interviewed and that same day interview tab turned green and approved.

Son is now 100% complete on application.

For those of you who have been notified that you should now complete your PMS interview, were all other components of your application already completed? i.e. fitness test results already in, school transcripts already received. It not all items were in, what was already done?

No. Actually DS still had several items not yet completed when CC posted a message on his dashboard stating he was good to go for an interview. I believe he still needed to complete the personal statement, he was waiting on the guidance counselor to do their thing, and he had not yet completed the survey. Other than that, we had either uploaded everything else (copy of transcripts, copy of signed PFT form, etc.), or had requested that items be electronically sent to CC (i.e. test scores).

So, PMS interview status now says "complete" - yay! Will anything appear that has the score received - like a copy of the interview sheet?

Hope I am understanding the process and everyone's responses. My ds never got anything via regular mail notifying him as to where he can interview. Like I said all he has left to do is the PFT and interview. He has sent 2 or 3 messages now to cc and has not received a response. We are talking weeks since his application has been submitted. He went ahead and set up his interview with VMI anyway. He will do the PFT before going on the 14 of Sept. Hope this works out for him if he never hears from cc.

We never got anything by regular mail. It was on his dashboard on the application site, under messages on the left hand side. He did the PFT (took a copy from the site - under "additional information"), and we mailed it in, plus the coach is supposed to send back the e-mail to CC (not sure if he has - it still says "sent"). I bet VMI will know what to do if there is a problem sending in the interview results. Good luck!

Never got anything from cc either. Going ahead as planned.

When I compare what my DS did as compared to what your DS has done so far, the main difference is that my son printed out the PFT form from the Additional Information area of the application portal, took it with him to the PFT, had the coach fill it out and sign/date it, and then DS uploaded it into his portal. It was right after that that he received a notification on the left-hand side of his dashboard telling him that he could go for an interview. So, I think once your DS takes his PFT and gets the results uploaded, he'll be OK.

The interviewer at VMI did ask that his pft be done before the interview and it will. The strange part is no response from cc on questions sent by portal.

Does anyone know if the actual results of the interview appear on the portal (other than the status after "interview" going to "complete")?

In reading through old posts Ive never read that someone found actual results. If they had Id imagine it would be posted. Ive read someplace (who knows where...) that 50% of those interviewed receive the full 200 points.

Here is a chart on who many points are for different things

good luck to your son.

We are far less worried about the interview than we are about dodmerb.:eek:

Since the username portion of the log-in for the application portal is an email address, have you double-checked to make sure the email address is correct? That's the email address CC will use to respond to any messages sent to them through the portal. If it's correct, I don't know what to tell ya'. It seems odd that they haven't responded to anything.

Also, on the screen where you log in, there's an email address to contact CC. Did DS send an email through that link, or did they go to the Contact Us screen that's inside the portal? My DS used the Contact Us screen.

I'll have him check his email address. He is using the "contact us" screen inside the portal for sure.

why are you worried about the dodmerb???

why are you worried about the dodmerb???

The list of what he will need waivers for is endless-hopefully they are doable:

Color deficiency (he can pass a vivid red/green test but shades are hard)
Accutane (over 2 1/2 years ago)
BB in his hand (11 yrs old+gopher+cousin+golf cart=bb in his hand- hand surgeon said it wont be a problem, just leave it be...)
Broken calcaneus in 2nd grade (no surgery or pins- completely healed)
one cauliflower ear (wrestling is disgusting-all fixed now though)
had allergy to dust and pollen in elementary school, out grew by middle school

Im sure there is more but those are the top ones that will automatically trigger a DQ and than hopefully a waiver.

He plays hockey, wrestles and boxes so obviously these things have never stopped him physically but any one of those can be a show stopper I think.

I feel like he can get into a pretty good school and if he doesnt get a 4 yr national rotc scholarship, he can enroll in ROTC when he gets there and hope for a 3 yr but ONLY if he passes dodmerb. which may not happen.

You are not supposed to see the results of the interview. If someone shares your score with you other than the PMS that interviewed you, they are doing something they are not supposed to. Again, the score you get from your PMS is out of your control once you walk out the door, so there is no need for you to even know what you got.

Here is an article that might help you understand where the points from the interview fit into the bigger picture. This is from last year, but it won't have changed that much.
