DS has now uploaded all required documents to the scholarship portal, with the exception of the Fitness test form (he’ll do that later this month). He is planning on uploading a resume. There is also an option (not a requirement) to upload letters of recommendation. Does the board give letters of recommendation any weight? Is it worth doing or a waste of time? If it is worth doing, one or two? Any other optional docs you would upload?

The resume and letters of recommendation are not considered by ROTC. Please see my prior post regarding what is evaluated at the Army ROTC scholarship board:

Thanks @AROTCPMS, We’ll skip the letters of recommendation. I still think he is going to load a resume just in case the PMS where he interviews decides to look at it. DS has to put one together for college apps anyway, and wants to bring a hard copy to the PMS interview.

I find a resume helpful, but I recommend whatever he puts on that resume also gets added to one of the additional information blocks on the app. That way if the board doesn’t open the resume they still have the info readily available in the application file.

Thanks @clarksonarmy. Good advice.

IMHO key parts of your resume should be highlighted in Essay #3 (aka "additional information"). My recommendation is to emphasize very significant accomplishments there and define what you did to achieve them.
