It wouldn't hurt to try to apply for the AROTC if my test scores are not really competitive right? I can nail the interview.

The interview is a part of the process. If your test scores are not competitive then you would most likely be removed from consideration until they are.

Not true...as long as you meet the minimum requirements and complete your file you will be considered. No one knows what "competitive" is, so don't assume your not. Here is a good read to explain where all you points come from. Note that the CBEF accounts for 350 points out of 1400. https://goldenknightbattalion.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/the-whole-person-score-what-is-it/

You will not be removed from consideration because your scores aren't "competitive".

I stand corrected.
However I guess it depends how not "competitive" your scores are.
Have to wonder what are the lowest SAT scores an applicant submitted that went on to be awarded a scholarship.

AJC, two years ago there was four year on the first board awarded to a student with a 23 ACT. To get full interview points you need a 24. It just shows the whole person score is complicated and much more than a test score. @che527 , you can still take it again before the application is due. Good luck.

Keep in mind that you can still earn an Army ROTC campus based scholarship by "walking on" to ROTC and getting excellent grades and becoming a stellar cadet.
My DS earned a campus based 3 year scholarship within three months of starting his freshman year in 2015. The cadre eventually extended to cover the spring semester as well, making it a 3 and a half year scholarship.

Also, as a freshman it is my understanding that you can submit either your high school grades as the cadre suggested with DD since that was the most recent, or wait and submit your first semester college grades.
