Howdy y’all,
If I join AROTC in college, is it reasonable to still apply to my top choice of another SA branch? (Will this put me behind other applicants for USAFA/USNA? Will I still be able to get a nom from AROTC to USNA?)

Thank you.

I don't think it would matter at all. All SAs are 4 year programs regardless of what you do after high school - it also should not have any impact on receiving a nom. Just curious, if USNA is your top choice, why would you not do NROTC? Good Luck!

I have to pay all tuition on my own, so if I get a better scholsrship for AROTC than NROTC, I will choose AROTC. Also, I’m only applying to 1 competitive university that has NROTC out of state. I plan to stay in state and all colleges I’m applying to have AROTC.

Nom answer is here at primary source:

Be sure you understand any paperwork you sign if taking AROTC scholarship funds. If you join the program, give 100% to that program out of respect to the cadre and your unit members. If your heart and mind still call you to apply for USNA, work hard at AROTC and uphold your end of things.
