AROTC Scholarship Athletics

I saw on the AROTC scholarship application that academic team and jrotc team were located under the athletics category.....should I keep the check on "did you participate in athletics?" or not? It was a little confusing detail of the application that I stumbled upon.

On the application portal it marks academic team and JROTC teams as athletics, however I don’t know if they’re actually counted as being athletics because what I usually think of for athletics is basketball, soccer, etc. I’m just wondering if I can still say I did athletics with academic team/JROTC teams even though I never did anything like a varsity sport?
