My DD received A 4y AROTC scholarship for which h she is very ex tied. She does have a question that has received different responses from the schools ROO that she received. The specific question was, of the 3 schools she was a winner for she has an acceptance at one of them, not her first choice of schools. If she chooses, which has to be done 12/7 one school she she has not been accepted to and does not receive an acceptance does she loose the scholarship to the school on her list that gave her an acceptance? or can she she 100% move it to the school she has an acceptance to that is also on her winner letter.

Is this different that requesting a transfer from an approved school on her winner letter to a different school not on her winner letter.

like is said, she called both schools ROO, and the person on her letter and received different answers. If anyone has gone through this please advise. Thank you.

I'm not seeing anything that firmly states that if your not admitted to your first choice school on your award letter, you can simply move the scholarship to another school, still one of three that you were awarded the scholarship in the winner letter.

According to the ROO at Clarkson University, you can request the transfer but both schools must agree. There is no guarantee.

In many cases the transfer works out, but if you want a guarantee, you should accept the scholarship for the school that has granted your DD admission now. Then if a more desirable school admits her later, you can request a transfer at that time.

If they okay the transfer, then life is good! If it is denied, she will still have a 4 year at a school that has already admitted her.

What Clarkson was referring to was a transfer of a scholarship of a cadet that is already in College and wants to transfer to a new college, which does not apply to this situation. If you are not accepted to the school that you have accepted the scholarship to, then you can request to transfer of it this March. Cadet Command will transfer the scholarship as long as you provide proof that you weren't accepted to the award school and a copy of the acceptance letter to the school you want to transfer the scholarship to. Every year I have 3 to 5 cadets successfully transfer their scholarship to one of my schools. Most of these cadets did not have my school (RPI) as one of their original offers.

Thanks for the correction, Mohawk. I clearly misread that line from Clarkson.

Mohawk and AROTC-dad, here's another scenario. Let's say that DS has a 4YR AROTC Scholarship. Two of his 3 awarded schools he applied EA. One is RD. Not accepted to any yet, and all are low reach/high match schools. Let's say he accepts the RD school and has to wait until March/April for a decision. If he changes his mind and decides on (1) one of his two other awarded (EA) schools, or (2) one of the remaining 4 on his original list of 7, can he transfer the scholarship before an admission decision is made in the spring by the RD school that he accepted? Strange scenario, I know, but I want to make sure I have all the angles. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks!

He can request the transfer in MAR, regardless if an acceptance decision has been made at that point. He will have to write a letter with the request with his reason/justification as to why he wants to transfer it. I do not know what percentage of transfers are accepted or denied, just that I have never heard of one being denied, and 100% of transfer requests into my program have been accepted. One example I can think of it being denied is if the new school already has reached 80% of contract mission in scholarships. Typically USACC doesn't like to go over that with National Scholarships, but usually the only school that get that many scholarships are SMCs and big national draw schools.
