Hello, I am waiting for the results of the second ROTC board. I was wondering if anybody knew based on previous years how many applicants who reached "boarded" status actually won a scholarship, including 3 yr AD scholarships.

My son is also in the second board, but his status is still Board Ready. Has yours changed to Boarded?

I was already reviewed by the first board so I have been boarded already. I was boarded on the third day of board 1 because my last name begins with H.

@AH99 my last name begins with D and our status hasn't changed yet. I know I'm being impatient, but it is so reassuring to see progress.

My application also was just boarded today. My last name stars with S. Any idea of when we will find out if we did or didn't receive the scholarship?

My friend was boarded during the first meeting and received the scholarship three weeks later. Should be approximately the same.

My son Boarded this morning about 9am. (last name D) -- Maybe they're going in order of submission this time. His application was not complete until the evening of Jan 4.

Here's a recent Thread that discusses how many Scholarships were awarded for 2016: https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/army-rotc-statistics-2016.49501/

It seems the general numbers ended up being approximately 4500 Boarded applicants - 600 4 year winners - 1900 3 year winners (very general approximates, but probably ballpark figures)...optimistically though, more than 50% were winners!

It takes about 2-4 weeks for the results to be published after the conclusion of a scholarship board. 1000 4YR scholarships will be awarded and 1000 3YR scholarship will be awarded. There will also be some 2YR MJC scholarships awarded, but I do not recall the total number. After the 3 scholarship boards, some additional 3AD scholarships will be awarded to students on the USMA qualified, non-select list as well as to JROTC cadets.

Here are stats from previous years:

Board Year FY13 FY14 FY15 FY16
Supporting Year MS17 MS18 MS19 MS20
Applicants 11,330 13,215 12,219 12,035
Boarded 4917 4406 4166 4640

So am I correct in saying there is about a 40-50% chance of winning a scholarship once boarded?

I would think that being boarded has nothing to do with one's chances of winning a scholarship. The only elimination prior to being boarded--which simply means that the packet is reviewed by the Board/panel and ranked--would be not completing the application. Thus, based on the information provided for previous years, there was a 50% chance of being selected if a candidate completed his or her application. However, funding for ROTC scholarships depends on the needs of the Army and expectations for the size of the force in four years. Boarded is pretty meaningless in terms of successful outcomes.

DD just got a message in her application portal that says to expect results in 2-3 weeks.
