Clairification: the fact that you've been contacted by DoDMERB to obtain an exam for AROTC, is NOT confirmation of a scholarship offer.

"Official confirmation will come via letter from Cadet Command, but yes this is a very positive indicator.”

So, if you have a letter that offers you the scholarship, then you are a winner and will need to undergo a DoDMERB exam.

If DoDMERB contacts you regarding obtaining an exam for AROTC, the answer above applies:thumb:

"Positive indicator"???

DS DODMERB account says "Qualified Army ROTC" effective 23Nov. Was already qualed by USNA. Does this mean scholarship?? He has not been notified by anyone, and contact at RIT is gone for holidays....Any input ??

Or am I just being thick headed and post by Mullen indicated scholarship??

I have an applicant on my list who I contacted today. No offer from the October board, but was OK'd for a DODMERB...I have the feeling that DODMERB is not a verification that you have a scholarship offer coming. Until you are holding that offer letter in your hand, you don't have an offer. The fact that you were qual for USNA could have more to do with your DODMERB status change than a potential offer.

Hang in there...not everyone will get an offer from the first round.

So one should not schedule the physical exam until the CC letter confirms the award even though the DODMERB paperwork has been sent?

I would still schedule it if you got the packet from DODMERB. If someone wants you to do it, might as well get it over with.

Ok, if you recieved the DoDMERB materials but not a scholarship, are you required to complete your DoDMERB in order to be considered for the January AROTC Board?

Your circumstances seem slightly unususual....getting DoDMERB materials before being awarded a scholarship. While I don't "think" you need to complete DoDMERB before the January board (almost no other ROTC only candidates will have completed their medicals), I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to finish it. Worse case scenario you find out sooner that you aren't medically qualified. Best case....it is one less thing to eventually get accomplished and to worry about.
Good Luck! :thumb:

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if and when I'll find myself in usual cirucmstances

Until just a year or two ago; Cadet Command sent DODMERB material to every applicant. They cut back because of the expense - presumably.
Now, they are probably findout out that the timeline for some candidates is just too short if they win their scholarship in the spring and it sounds like they are sending at least some names of qualified applicants to DODMERB.

If you receive a packet from DODMERB and have not yet won a scholarship then you should still take your exam ASAP. Get it done and get qualified. IF you have a remedial or DQ issue then there is time to deal with it.

My daughter took her exam in Oct 2006. She also got her scholarship that month pending qualification medically. She needed a waiver that did not come until late APRIL.
Get the exam done!!

DODMERB has the potential to be a really long process. It all sort of depends on your situation. I put yes to some stuff, fully expecting remedials, yet I was qualified right off the bat.

Others have had seemingly minor issues that have put up huge flags for the guys at DODMERB. It's too hard to say, so definitely get it done ASAP. If you do find yourself in a bind with it, make sure to talk to a former or current military doc if possible to find the easiest way to deal with that ;)

For clarification: Do we need to fill out all of the DODMERB forms that are listed on the website?

I find this thread puzzling indeed, when we already have a DoDMERB button on the site and I'm avalable to answer all DoDMERB questions authoritatively, without opinion or speculation, but anyway...

Kate - No, you don't fill out all the DoDMERB forms and you would be best served to cut and paste your posting; provide your complete name and last 4 SSN; and send me an email. I can assist U better from there:thumb:

Perhaps a moderator could help us by moving this thread to the proper area? :thumb:

Definitely would keep Mr. Mullen from having to look for these questions everywhere. :shake:
