We found out last night that my DD was awarded a 3 year scholarship. We are thrilled! However, there is only one college choice shown on her portal from the five that she had listed. Does that mean that is her only option? She has been accepted to her top choice school (OOS) and would really like to use the scholarship there. The school listed is in-state and her dream is to spread her wings and go somewhere completely new to her. Does anyone know if the letter might contain additional choices? If not, any chance on getting it transferred to another school? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Yes, the letter may very well contain other choices. Have you checked both portals? Some on here have said that one of the portals may list more schools under "status". When DS received his in the 1st board, there was a copy of the snail mail letter she will receive, in the upload section at the back of the application. I have not been on the portal in a long time, so not sure if it is completely different now or not! Good luck!

I agree with soccmomer that there may be more schools. However, as a way of setting expectations, in my years here on the forums it may well be only one school this late in the cycle. The chances of transfer depend on many factors including whether the schools are in the same brigade, costs, open slots at the desired school, etc. I do hope things work out and she gets to go to her OOS school. If it comes to that you can always try to transfer, just no guarantees. Nothing to lose except perhaps a school deposit.

Thanks for your input. I had the same thought about how late it is and the fact that her other school choices might be full. Do you know whether we have to wait for the snail mail to find out or can we call Cadet Command to get an answer?

Did you try looking in the upload section on the application site? (The site where she originally filled out the application). I know copies of the snail mail letter appeared there, but I am not sure exactly how long it took.

DS's portal changed on a Friday and the "snail mail" letter was available to print on Monday.

When I got my scholarship my portal only showed VMI! but in reality I had gotten it to two more schools as well. Wait until the letter arrives/is uploaded

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Hopefully the letter will have more schools listed. It's going to be a long weekend

Go to your scholarship application and look at the uploaded documents. Your winner letter will be there, and it will detail all the offers and their type.

ArmyBrat - thanks for making this a new thread... we will be following closely since we're in the same boat!

Anyone have any input if chances are better for requesting a change if both the school awarded and the school wished for are both SMCs? We assume that the first choice school must be full if they awarded to third choice... second choice was not a SMC (not accepted anyway).

Hoping that more people get good news today! And really hoping that the "letter", once uploaded, aleviates some of the stress by adding more school choices.

Have a wonderful weekend all!
