Hello,

Today I received a 3 year AROTC scholarship! I’m very excited by this news and was looking to get more information regarding the summer trainings.

Could anyone explain the general process of the summer trainings (airborne, air assault, mountain, etc...)? Do you have to be a certain age/grade or could a freshman do some trainings over the summer? Does each college handle this differently?

As far as cost goes, would this be covered under a scholarship or is it considered extra?

Thank you for any and all input. I’m very happy to have received a scholarship and am looking forward to what’s next!

Good luck to all waiting for the third board.

Each school handles it differently...most of the costs will be paid by the Army in most cases. Freshmen usually don’t get a lot of training slots in general. Here at Clarkson most of my contracted freshmen apply for CULP, some of them apply for internships and most of them go to air Assault school. 3 AD scholarship winners generally have to wait until sophomore year for summer training.
