Hello all,
I have recently received an ROTC scholarship to Marquette University, accepted it, and passed my DoDMERB physical. Now that I am all set with my scholarship, I was just wondering if there is field training or schools that you are able to go to in the summer. I know of LDAC, but that is specifically ROTC. I have done some digging and have come up empty. If anybody knows or has been through the process, I'd be more than happy to get your feedback!
Thanks!

Search Project GO. It's a pretty awesome foreign language experience specifically for ROTC students. Army ROTC also has some Army Schools open for cadets. Internships are also great options too (although they aren't ROTC specific, you can still do some great ones). Other than ROTC obligated training, what you do in the summer is up to you. You can end up doing some cool stuff if you do research and apply for things!

I'll assume since you mention LDAC that you're an AROTC scholarship recipient, congratulations! Your vision to next summer is admirable however, you should really focus on being the best college freshman and MSI first. The AROTC curriculum is in a state of transition. The good news is that by the time you are an MSIV the bugs should be ironed out. So here are some considerations, if you contract first semester you will probably attend CIET the summer that you are a rising sophomore. You can and should apply to both project GO and CULP. If you do not receive a CULP deployment you can reapply as an MSII. There are specialty school airborne air assault etc and rotc internships that you can apply for receipt of same is based on your battalion OML. By all means show up to your battalion in excellent shape check your form on pushups and sit-ups by checking the videos on YouTube. Show up in great shape nail the first apft get good grades first semester, stay out of trouble and doors will open for you. Did I miss anything jcleppe?

Thank you Clarksonarmy for a link that actually works. I would get an error message that the page was no longer available when I would go to that link on my phone. Now works on my computer.

I used to be a signal officer, so I do possess some electronic magic!
Lesson learned here is that google is your friend and will serve you well in your future as a student and Cadet.

It depends on your school and what is allocated to your brigade

Things have now changed in my brigade but I got lucky and went to air assualt my summer before 2 year and mountain and airborne before my 3 year

DS told me this week that their allocation for airborne and air assault were cut in half.

A lot of AROTC Cadets this year like many other years before will not get selected for summer schools. It is one of those things out of your control. They should not get too worked up about it. Once in the Army, depending on your branch, there will be opportunities for schools.

Air Assault, Mountain, and Airborne....either your school gets a lot of slots or they don't pass them around much.

Which Mountain did you attend?

Alaska

My class is very small and we were the top school in the brigade

I'm going to assume that in the context of your post you are going to be a college Freshman come this August? If so, there isn't any opportunities for training this coming summer before you start school (at least that I'm aware of)... if your ROTC program has any type of orientation or such, I guess that might count. I'd contact your cadre to find out more on that (assuming they do have such an orientation; not all programs/schools do [Pitt's Army ROTC doesn't]).
