If someone has a 4yr AROTC scholarship, does it cover the uniforms at The Citadel? I know it doesn’t cover room and board.

If you are referring to The Citadel Uniforms the answer in no. Your AROTC uniforms and gear will be provided at no additional cost (Everything you need for ROTC)

In general the ROTC scholarships cover tuition, for out of state students this amount is $37,384 this year (2019-2020). The total cost is $53,278 freshman year and $48,068 the next three years. So your remaining cost is @$16,000 the first year and @$11,000 sophomore thru senior year. The cost is @$7,500 for room and board and $8,000 for uniforms and books the first year, and $7,500 room and board plus $3,000 for books, haircuts, laundry the next three years.

The scholarship can pay either tuition and fees or room and meals; a $420/month stipend, and $1,200 per year for books

Hope this is helpful.

I just asked the ROO last night, and was told there is only a yearly stipend of $875 approx. for Citadel Uniforms for scholarship recipentants, as I am one as well.

In addition to the Army ROTC scholarship, Citadel Cadets awarded 3 or 4 year national ROTC scholarships - and who have a minimum SAT of 1200, and a HS GPA of 3.2, are eligible for the Armed Forces Supplement that pays $3,500/yr during their scholarship period.

@glen may have more to add. He is much more knowledgeable in this area than I am..

Go to your Lesesne Gate portal. Login and look for the tab "pre-cadet". There will be a financial aid tab that should have an option "award package". Select year 2020-2021. If you click on that it should show you any scholarships that you have been awarded as well as your projected cost of attendance. This scholarship should show up if it has been awarded. If it is not listed and you meet the criteria outlined below, give the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office a call. If you have Scholarship listed, make sure you "accept" them.

This is directly from the Citadel website:

The Armed Forces Scholarship Program has been established to assist the Air Force, Army, and Navy ROTC Detachments at The Citadel in bringing the best and brightest officer candidates to the school. Prospective students must have a minimum 1200 SAT (or 27 ACT), a minimum high school GPR of 3.2, and have accepted an ROTC scholarship prior to matriculation as a freshman at The Citadel in order to be considered. Recipients of the scholarship will receive an annual award of $3500 for each year in which they receive the ROTC Scholarship. Recipients of the Armed Forces Scholarship will be notified by The Citadel's Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships.

A student must maintain a 3.0 minimum GPR to maintain the Armed Forces Scholarship. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the scholarship. The Armed Forces Scholarship will not be reinstated once it has been lost.

Students who are awarded an ROTC Scholarship after matriculating at The Citadel are not eligible for an Armed Forces Scholarship.
