on the arotc website is states:

*The interview is conducted by an Army Officer who will ask you questions and will answer any questions you may have about Army ROTC and the pursuit of an Army commission. If you are found to be competitive, you will be interviewed by Army Officers from the universities you listed as your school choices.

*The interview can be either telephonic or in person depending on distances involved. Any cost incurred for transportation, food and lodging for the interview are your responsibility.

This seems to mean that there are two separate interviews. My sons application is completed except for interview. My son is scheduled to go travel to one of his top choice schools for an interview in a couple of days. Was he supposed to interview with an Army Officer first?

I'm also an AROTC applicant and I'm sure that the "officer" in this case refers to the PMS which is an officer of the US Army.

No, you are doing everything correct; it is just one interview. The interviewing officer is generally the PMS of the Battalion. Wording can be a little confusing at times.
