Hi, I posted one of these earlier in the year, but with all the craziness since, I thought I would give anyone the chance to ask any questions! Obviously, I do not have all the answers and everything is a fluid process that could change right now, but I am more than willing to just chat or assuage any anxieties.
 
Hi, I was wondering if you would know any changes to how NAPS will be this year in regards to the 2 week quarantine before the original in doc day?

Hi, I believe there is less restrictions on NAPS indoc vs Plebe summer as there are way less people at Newport. Also, all the detailers have a 2 week quarantine at USNA before busing up to Rhode Island.

If NAPSters successfully complete NAPS, whose prep mission is true to its name, they join other plebes-to-be coming directly from high school, directly from enlisted service, and college re-applicants to begin the same 4-year journey together. USNA is a 4-year college degree and commissioning program. NAPS does not replace the first year of USNA, but prepares the prep school attendee to succeed.
 
Napsters completed INDOC with Nitro yesterday. My son is there as a Coast Guard Scholar. By far the hardest part of his time at NAPS so far was ROM as they were effectively locked in their rooms 23 hours a day. Being away from home really for the first time in his life and then being stuck in a room for 14 days with nothing to do but think was difficult. Indoc was easy in comparison. He is excited for the start of the school year.
 
Ok thank you both for your help in understanding this all...so when would a candidate that goes to NAPS do plebe summer? The summer before NAPS or the summer before Naval Academy?

When NAPSters complete NAPS, they report in for Plebe Summer along with their new classmates.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but when you apply to USNA one of the tings they are looking for are self starters who understand what they are getting into and the process they are going to be going through. You have now asked a couple of questions that if you had done even a little research on USNA and NAPS you could have found the answers to.

My advice is that you read the information that is readily available for each and try and find the answers yourself first. It is a habit that will serve you well once you start your application.

No worries...I am actually the mom lol! Yep my son is doing the application and his own research. I was just curious because there was alot to read on both websites and I don't have time due to work right now for in depth reading. If the answer doesn't come up with a quick google search then it's quicker to ask here. ;)
