Does it help your application if you have an associates degree from a community college with stellar grades or should someone who is going to a community college reapply the first year with stellar grades?

If you are dual enrollment you do not apply as a college student (there are several kids in 2018 who got a DE associate degree). It can help show you have availed yourself of all possible educational opportunities for the academic qualification but I'm not sure it adds much value.

If you have graduated high school getting the degree probably matters less than taking classes that approximate first year USNA classes. Seeing that you have posted in the classes thread I will let them give you class advice. If you are a college student (not DE) get all of your application complete ASAP even though it won't be reviewed until after Fall grades are released.

Good luck!

This will be my 3rd application for USNA and I have one more year until I graduate with my associates degree.

I would agree with 2018midmom that the more important part of your application would be the classes you take, not the degree you receive. That said, however, you must think about plan B at the same time. Take those classes that plebes would take, but would also count towards your AS/AA so that if you aren't accepted to USNA, you only have one year to complete your AS/AA.

I took plebe classes (i.e. Precalc/calc 1, physics 1/2, chemistry 1/2, freshman comp+tech writing) to show that I was capable in those classes. It didn't work, but I am able to apply again and still get my AS at the end of this AY.

Best of luck to whatever you end up doing!

Thank yall for the replies, currently I just graduated high school and attending this community college this year, so ill try to mimic the plebe schedule, but someone once posted that they look more at someone who did the classes from any four year, before any CC student with the same class, is this true?

If you can't afford a 4 year college put that in your essay (as a way to demonstrate commitment even under difficult circumstances).

Good luck to both of you-maybe 3rd times a charm!
