Asthma DQ Question

Hello all. I have been pending for a waiver to USCGA for a little more than three weeks now. I was DQ'ed for childhood/juvenile asthma right before my 13th birthday, but getting my second and last inhaler right after. I have already had all my questions answered about that by Mr. Mullen. My question now however would be directed to those who received waivers for this issue... My problem is that it is expected to have a decision in 4-6 weeks, and the deadline is May 15 for my appointment to expire.. That would give me a little more than a week to try to appeal... Is there any way I can start getting anything ready for an appeal to be made right after it is denied? Would a week be long enough? Thanks
