Asthma Mis-diagnosis?

Our son has been nominated for USAFA and USNA has been DQd after the waiver process due to having asthma on his medical record. I believe he was mis-diagnosed with mild sports induced asthma when in fact he had covid-19 (testing positive for C-19 three days after the SIA diagnosis). He is appealing the DQ, but I'm wondering if there is any avenue for him to be examined by a DoDMERB approved physician to be cleared of the asthma diagnosis. Any help would be welcomed! Thank you.

APPLICANT SON: If you’d like, you may send me an email: lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your Parent's posting above to YOUR email. The subject line of the email should be “JakeSpeed- SAF =Asthma Mis-Diagnosis.“ Do NOT embed links in your email as I will not be able to view those.:wiggle:

Thank you for your attention, and I appreciate your effort to assist. Based upon the email correspondence, It seems like perhaps there is not a possibility to undergo an exam to potentially overrule a disqualifying misdiagnosis.

In this case we believe that our son was misdiagnosed and misinformed by his physician and without understanding the significance of his honesty reported that misinformation on his medical form.

Now he is perpetually DQd without recourse. Am I understanding that correctly?

Q = "Now he is perpetually DQd without recourse. Am I understanding that correctly?"

A = No.

I answered your son earlier. As per the instructions provided him, he can appeal the medical waiver denial from USAFA. Their waiver denial trumps the DoDMERB DQ decision, after their independent review of current status and prognosis:wiggle:

Copy. In process. Kind thanks for the information and attention. It says a tremendous amount about your character that you read and respond to these forums. Truly impressive and exemplary leadership.
