Your ASVAB score will determine which Marine Corps jobs you qualify for. Each Marine Corps MOS has different ASVAB score requirements.

If you're applying for an Academy, ASVAB scores aren't required. For the NROTC-MO scholarship, there is an option to put them in.

USMC Dog Handler (5812) is a secondary MOS only available to Military Police (5811). It is extremely competitive to earn the opportunity.

I understand you are 16 and interested in the Marines based on your Grandfather's experience. I encourage you to research the Marine Corps with Google, read books, speak to veterans, and seek out a Recruiter. Since these forums were set up to support people applying to the Service Academies and ROTC to become Officers, you are probably not going to get the information you seek here very often. One area that actually does a great job on MOS explanation is on the social media platform that starts with an R and subscribe to USMCboot. There are mega threads that cover the various MOSs that current and former Marines, recruiters and others provide information. They actually do a pretty good job of posting/moderating.
