Athletics Food/Nutrition

Looking at the athlete info for the class of 2024, 159 incoming students were going to play sports. That's 59% of the class. Who knows what the percentage is when you add in the various club sports? I would think that it's got to be quite high. While I'm no expert, it seems to me that the vast majority of CGA students are also athletes. I would guess, then, that it's simpler for the academy to provide all students with athlete-specific nutrition. In any case, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. https://www.uscgasports.com/general/2020-21/releases/20200706hgs658

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I would say in short, the answer is no. Everybody pretty much eats the same thing, which is whatever is prepared by the wardroom. Sometimes there's choices, sometimes there's not, and sometimes it's healthy, sometime it's not.

For athletes at CGA, are they provided with athlete specific nutrition?
Remember unlike some of the other SAs, you don’t get any exceptions for height and weight requirements because you play a sport. My DS is currently at NAPS where the Football players for example get what amounts to double rations but as their lineman can weigh over 300 pounds that isn’t surprising.

Cadets learn very quickly that if there is a specific nutritional item you wish to have to supplement your diet, care packages from home and AMAZON orders are the way to achieve getting what you'd like. Since Day 1 of Swab Summer 2020, my DD gets at least one package a week from me with her requested items.
