I am coming up to the end of my sophomore year and I know that next year is when I can apply for the USMA seminar. But as I understand it, is that the seminar happens before school is out. Meaning that I would have to miss school. I was just wondering (If you have ever attended) how you coped with missing school and what you did to make up for it. I was emailing one staff member of USMA and they said they might be possibly adding a whole other session. But I am afraid that if I try to attend the SLS, I would have to miss a week before my finals or even possibly during my finals. I am not sure what to do regarding if I should apply or not.

DS attended NASS last year and had to miss the last few days of school. He arranged to take his finals the week before. A few teachers waived the final after knowing where he was going and he already had a solid A in the class. Just make sure that you communicate with them well before. :thumb: Also make sure that the school administration is aware of the situation. Best of Luck to you.

Between SLS, USAFA's SS, and some soccer stuff, I missed almost the entire last three weeks of school for me. Just talk to your teachers and guidance counselor. Your guidance counselor is a great person to talk to to get you cleared with teh administration about missing extended periods of time. It also gave me a chance to get to know my guidance counselor and show her why I was serious about USMA as well as what I would need her to help me with in terms of evaluation pieces, etc

Thanks. I am planning to talk to my counselor at the beginning of my junior year. Going to SLS will be a great thing for me to go to!

I am attending this year and am missing the week before my final exams because i only have 2 finals due to ap testing. however, its a great opportunity and your teachers should let you miss as long as you make up the work.
