Awaiting Appointment/Denial

Seems like most people interested in a service academy would be type A...doing nothing or waiting for others is not our style! Best of luck to all.

Hoops, I was fine until I read Fearthegoat's post above. "I was CPR until April 15". I've either be extremely optimistic, in denial, or stupid.

Happens every single year. USNA does this year in and year out, so that April 15th date is there for a reason. Yes they have been short staffed, but they are currently running at full strength. They are fully committed to the April 15th date as in previous years. I caution every single kid and family who takes on this process to be prepared for the full wait. I am a firm believer that the process in of itself is meant to be a huge learning experience for candidates and is their first step in learning to 'hurry up and wait.' The military is full of these waits and they don't get any easier.

TWE for DS today. He's disappointed but not crushed. Here's hoping AROTC has better news Thursday.

Dang, so sorry to hear this! I was also following you more closely since I knew you were from MI. We're in MI-03 and DD is still (as far as I know) CPR today. AROTC gave you a date certain? I'll pray for some good news on Thurs for your DS.

When do those with offers of appointment have to accept by? Is it April 15th?

No definite date but in a different thread an ROO officer said they had been notified last weekend and we would find out Thursday. Same pattern as the second board. Honestly, it's what DS wanted more than the SA.

We're lurking by the mailbox too... I was told by a mom of a current Mid that there was an IT hangup that caused a delay in some notifications going out. My son is keeping his powder dry before committing to the RPI NROTC program... painful wait for sure.

USNA'82/CDR USN (ret)

That's curious, as the TWEs seem to keep trickling out. I just wish all the notifications would come out, good or bad.

The way I see it, if you deserve an appointment you will receive one. It's as simple as that. This waiting game is just a formality, and a very painful one, so hopefully this idea helps ease the mind of my fellow CPRs - I know it helped me. Good luck everyone!

@roguemom35 See...that is the trouble--and why you are a 'rogue mom'--I never look--do not know how to access them/passwords/etc...so I have to wait to ask, "Did you check your email today?" Trying not to stress him out--but trying to let him own the process. I think that my anxiety for him is on full display only on this forum!
Actually DrMom, like you I don't have access to my DS's account or password, I was just making a joke. I am like you, this forum is my only outlet, and I am glad to have friends here who understand! And CaptMJ, that was me who said Academy CPR could be related to medical CPR. Thanks for reminding us to have patience with the Admissions employees who are doing the best they can.

Great...whereas at our house, #3 is suddenly experiencing the bad mood that precedes a big decision--working off of incomplete information. It is killing me because he is normally so fantastically good natured.
The good news is that track practice and meets keep him out and busy--another quarter of straight A's under the belt--so that there is only time to eat and do homework without being too grumpy.
Our #1 Son is in town on a school trip to DC from NPS in Monterey...and I am just like, "Please talk to your brother and help him make a good choice for his life." Right now the options are USAFA or an Army ROTC to VMI.
So, I am still praying for a perfect fit to which there is no need for a pros and cons list.

I will be praying for your #3. Stick around the forum and let us know.

DS#1 had a similar choice, no USNA, but did have AFA and 4 yr NROTC to University of Michigan. For him, it came down to the differences in their missions and the possibility of if you didn't get your first or second or third job choice, which branch of service would you want to do. Even though he really wanted an academy, what he decided he wanted more was most jobs in the navy, but he really only wanted to fly in the air force. He is absolutely thriving at Michigan, happy beyond any of our beliefs. Can't imagine it working out better anywhere else.
Your #3 has a couple of great choices. Good luck!

KT...I just follow their lead. One of esteemed senior colleagues did say loudly that I needed to replace my West Point mug. We will see. I know that #3 is hoping to hear from USMA and USNA...but being CPR and on the NWL at this late date...I know to never give up hope but...come on.

DS still CPR; and no word re: wait list. Has appointment ship sailed and waiting for TWE or Wait List the two options only at this point? Good luck to all. DS is staying cool. Me? Not so much.
