Hi everyone,
So a few days ago it was confirmed that I was awarded a 4 year scholarship to the University of Michigan's NROTC unit. I am ecstatic about the opportunity and so thankful. Tonight, I received an email from U of M Admissions and I was denied admission to the school. The reason I am posting this thread tonight is because in January I was awarded the ISR Scholarship and my recruiter told me he could help with the admissions process if my application needed it. As far as I can remember, those are close to the exact words he said. I plan to call him as soon as I can and find out if anything can be done to reverse this decision. I was fearing this might happen because of how selective admissions at U of M is, but I trusted that everything would work out in the end. Also, I contacted the unit and told them I was excited to be joining it during the waiting period. Where do I go from here? Thanks for all your help, this forum has been so informative for my family and I the past couple of months.

Also, thankfully the cross - town affiliate (Eastern Michigan University) has the program I'm looking for in Mechanical Engineering and if nothing can be done about U of M, I am so happy to use the scholarship there, but U of M is an outstanding school and I want to make sure I don't miss an opportunity here to attend. Thanks.

Contact the Univ of Michigan AROTC ROO ... to get a 4 yr AROTC scholarship you must have a good record ... Perhaps he can inform Univ of Mich admissions of your AROTC scholarship and that might help change their minds

Several mids at the UofM unit started at EMU, then transferred to UofM. There are a lot of mids at teh EMU campus and from what my DS has told me, it sounds like they carpool to drill, etc and the commute is not a big deal. About a 15 minute drive. Best of luck, but if you have actually been denied admission at UofM, it think the chances of getting that overturned are slim.

BTW, my Ds was an ISR recipient last year and, at least in his case, nothing was said about helping him with admissions to school. Quite the opposite. All through the process it was stressed that scholarship awards and school admissions were completely separate.
