MIDN Kevin Hillery will be one of the Class of 2012 graduates on Tuesday, and while not receiving a commission, his story of overcoming a life-threatening obstacle and his shipmates, who helped him cheat death, is truly remarkable.

To all of the other Class of 2012 graduates-to-be, their parents/friends/loved-ones, congratulations on surviving the USNA journey....but buckle up because the ride isn't over yet! Fair winds and following seas and Semper Fi!

Kevin received a well-deserved standing ovation as he made his way up the ramp to receive his diploma. His classmates initiated it, but the entire stadium gave him a rousing cheer.

Thanks for your congratulations, jadler. My new Ensign says the whole reality still hasn't sunk in yet. She said it still feels like any summer training, and it probably will until she reports to nuke school.

After Commissioning, we made one last trip onto the Yard for a last Mid Store run. This mom enjoyed watching the gate guard give the new Ensign her first "non-paid" salute!
