Hi there,
So i guess this question is directed to people who are BGO's and stuff like that but I have a situation and I'm just looking for some advice. When I was 14 my neighbor and I were snooping around in some abandoned house near our neighborhood and we got in trouble with the police. We had to go through some stuff get fingerprinted but they told us we would be clean once we turned 18. Well I am 18 now and I was told that I can legally say that I've never been arrested or anything like that because it is off my record. So on my USNA application I did just that, I checked off "no". However, I found out today that despite my record being clean and expunged, the military can still find out about everything. I'm not really sure what I should do, I was thinking about calling up my regional director. Any advice what so ever would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all

First, I am not a lawyer, and you are right. if anyone wants to find out about anything anybody does, they can, technology such as it is today. Personally, if I were a candidate for an SA, I would tell them. Honesty is the best policy.

Good luck and God Bless,

RGK

First off, you posting this on here is now available for everyone to read. INCLUDING USNA...

Second, You should probably remove this form here and ask your BGO this personally and see how he or she feels.

hockeypunk,

As mentioned, talk to your BGO. If he/she cannot give you a 100% answer (which is probably the case), they will direct you to call Admissions.

Your application is already in with the information you provided. Everyone is going to find out in the next 45 days if they are in or out. I would let that sleeping dog lie, and see what develops. If you get the TWE, then it's immaterial. If you get an appointment, the question is will your incident pop up in a general police background check. Deal with the issue there.

hockey,

Concur with MIDNDAD if you have not received an appointment. My guidance was IRT the police background check form, when offered an appointment.

Good luck!

I know this is less of a situation, but I got two spending tickets this year after I already had submitted my application. I informed them and I had to give a full explanation of my speed and how much the ticket cost. Also, another kid from my school, who received an appointment, was suspended in 8th grade. Our middle school principal had to write a full report on way he was suspended and how he has change as a person since that suspension. The key thing is honesty. I'm sure you are aware of the honor code at USNA.
