Backup Plans!

AFROTC and USAFA are two different processes. They do not talk to each other.

Good luck. :thumb:

True, however, according to the AFROTC Admission's Officer we talked to, AFROTC Scholarship committees do look quite favorably upon applicants who have also completed USAFA packages as well. She stated that it showed them the applicant's commitment and intent to complete training if selected for a scholarship.

Sounds reasonable to me!

If I don't get in ima go enlisted in the Air Force. Then ill reapply next year for one of those 65 slots that never get filled up. If I don't get in then, im going to do enlisted for 4 years! :thumb:

My dad wants me to do ROTC if I don't get in but I think its a waste of time :/

I'd rather be helping out the community now than later, and banking now then later.

FYI for an Enlisted Timeline (For me at least)

June 2008 - Graduated high school
November 2009 - Started talking to a recruiter
January 2010 - Swore in
February 2010 - Received ship date
(Had 75 College units prior to shipping)
June 2010 - Left for BMT
August 2010 - Graduated BMT on time in 8 weeks
March 2011 - Graduated Tech School
Sep/Oct 2011 - Received Commander's approval and finished application

So yeah, you're looking at about two years. And I got lucky! I was the first in the squadron to apply to the Academy as an enlisted member, so I had no hiccups getting approval from my Commander, Flight Chief, Group Commander, etc...

Your enlisted career may not go as smooth as mine did in terms of getting my application completed.

Good luck!

And FYI, last year was the first year all those slots were filled according to a Colonel I spoke with. She graduated from the USAFA in '85. So it's not guaranteed. Hell I may even be rejected.
