Does WP have band instruments that can be borrowed? My DD plays euphonium and we don't own our own -- too big and expensive. If she wanted to join the Spirit Band she would need to borrow an instrument.

Also, she is a bowler. Is there a women's bowling team, when are the tryouts, and does she bring her bowling gear to R-Day.

instruments

The Spirit band has a bunch of instruments. Some are in better shape than others. When my son joined he was given a broken sax that he and another cadet fixed. When the older cadets graduate, the better instruments get passed down. Plebes get what is left over. I dont know if she could bring her own if it was a smaller instrument but you definitely dont want to lug it around on R day.

Bowling Equipment...

During Beast the Cadet Candidates will have an opportunity to see the variety of club and sport activities available to them. I would wait till A-Day to get with her bowling equipment

Spirit Band does have instruments that they loan out. Some times it's an older instrument that's been passed down, sometimes it's a new one. The Band recently received full authos (meaning they are exempt from parading and intramurals) so I imagine they'll be getting new equipment soon.

As for bowling, there is a team but they do not have authorization to miss drill or intramurals. However, as was mentioned earlier, they do compete.

For any potential club participation, its best to bring the equipment on A-day.

Does anyone know what instruments are allowed in the spirit band? I play bass clarinet and was wondering if that is acceptable? I also play bb clarinet I just prefer my bass

They have a FB page that is long abandoned but has an email address someone might be using.
Happy to reach out to one of my USMA mom friends with kids in the band. My guy was a war tuba...and loved it.
