My son has some interest from the USNA, but ACT is a little low (28). Everything else is solid. If offered NAPS, does anyone have any info about their baseball team.

Army told him they'd rather he play juco ball than go to USMAPS because they don't have basebsll.

Don’t know the answer to your question. But in making the decision, make sure your son considers this: Is his priority to commission via USMA or to play baseball? If it’s the former, then advise that he attend USMAPS whether baseball is offered or not. Barring a very significant development (i.e. conduct issue, academic difficulty), MAPS is the so-called “golden ticket” to WP. JC is not. There’s no guarantee that reapplying from JC will result in offer of appointment, no matter what a coach may say.

AirborneDaddy- Purely anecdotal experiences...when my eldest was looking at schools and baseball we took in a game at Bishop Stadium. We met a few parents of players in the stands and 3 out of 4 of their kids had gone to NAPS. Whether or not there’s a team at NAPS, it does seem that the baseball program uses NAPS as a way to improve their recruits chances for success at USNA.

A 28 composite on your ACT is in the 88th percentile and not really a "little low". It is also above the median at each academy. Unless he has one really low subscore in a subject, he test scores are qualifying. You must be academically disqualified to get an offer to USMAPS. It may be a little low to compete for a MOC slate but would also be very competitive on other slates. He needs to decide if he wants to be an Army Officer or chase his baseball dreams.

Good to know about the 28. I agree with all above...he has some hard choices over the next few months. We've had the conversation...if you're going to an academy--baseball can't be your reason. Thx
