Baseball or a Summer Job?

Hello everyone. I'm going to be a sophomore in high school next year and I am wondering if a summer job or playing baseball would look better on an application to a service academy. I already do cross country and track, so do I have enough sport credibility? Thanks for looking.

Do things because you want to do them, because you'll enjoy doing them and because you will excel.

Don't do them because of how it will look on your Air Force Academy application.

Thanks for the response. And that was going to be my deciding factor in the end.

I'd like to work, but I'll have to decide for certain when the time comes for me to. Thanks

During the summer, my DS did sports during the day, but still worked at a movie theater at night. You CAN do both.

Off topic, but OP, you need to change your user name (send a message to @TacticalNuke to change it). The Internet is a big, scary place and using your actual name is never a good idea. It's too easy for unsavory characters to find out things about you they don't need to know. Congrats on that stolen base 3 weeks ago though.

Ok thanks for all the replies and I just messaged tactical nuke to change it.

Yep, It's not that bad. Swim practice from 6-8:30AM and then work later in the day. It's rewarding, but sometimes I feel like I am just as busy in the summer as I am during the school year. So if that it not something that you desire I would say don't do both.

Why is it either/or? Why not baseball AND a job? All through high school age, my kids held AT LEAST one job, AND one 5-7 day per week sport (with a 45 minute drive to get to that sport, in each direction).

Don't limit yourself to either/or. Do what you love, and make the time.

In fact, those time management skills will be among the most important skills you will ever learn.
