DS is 4 year national winner just starting his soph. year. I am curious, do all cadets attend Basic Camp after soph. year or is it a training that can be skipped if they are attending other ROTC training (CULP, Air Assault, Airborne, ETC)?

Thanks

Basic Camp is usually for cadets who missed out on the first year of ROTC classes. If your DS is a 4yr, it is unlikely he will attend Basic Camp. He could be eligible for other training. Basic Camp is for cadets who need to catch up.

+1 to Angus. Advanced Camp the following summer is required.

Agree that Basic Camp is primarily intended for Army ROTC cadets who have missed a portion of MS-I or MS-II years. Also EVERY cadet on track to commission must attend Advanced Camp the summer after their MS-III year.

However, I have heard of some other cadets being given the opportunity to attend Basic Camp to serve as OPFOR or to perform other support duties.

A few years ago the Commanding General of Cadet Command was making noise about wanting every Cadet to have a “Basic Training” experience. You may be looking at some old posts or debates or rumors. Basic Camp is currently designed to allow Cadet who come to the program late to get credit for what we call the Basic Course (first two years of ROTC classes on campus). It is also used as first training for Junior Military College Cadets, and it’s sometimes used to help the Nurse Cadets build a buffer in their campus training to facilitate their training.
