I've interacted with a number of Indian Americans in both the business and personal areas and almost all of them have absolutely no interest in going back unless there is a parent still there. Those that do often take lots of precautions that far outweigh anything we did as young military folks. An example is the Engineering Director at one company who used to go have to back every few yrs for family reasons and when he did, he would not eat ANYTHING that he did not bring in with him and used to pack a very large suitcase of food when he did have to go there. They were so disgusting that one of the Dads on the trip who had grown up in and emigrated from India said that they were the most disgusting thing he had ever seen or smelled in his life. He assured us that this was indeed quite a feat, having grown up in India.
I remember asking him if he ever wanted to go back to India and he said "No. Never" and he was dead serious.
