On the I-Day packing list it does not specify how many pairs of Athletic/running shoes I can bring... Can I bring two pairs? Or is it implied you only bring one pair? I know that in addition to what I bring a pair of athletic shoes will be issued during BCT. I have not been able to find anything saying I can't bring two pairs. Does anyone know if I can bring two pairs?

Athletic shoes will not be issued during BCT if you bring appropriate shoes. Sure you could bring two, will it get you extra attention, probably. But you could bring two.

You only have to wait a couple months before you can have another pair of shoes mailed to you, etc. IMO the one pair to start is fine, if you are thinking about the shoes falling apart or that sort of thing, you can always buy new ones.

You really will only need one pair for BCT, but if you bring two, there isn't going to be a huge problem. They'll stay in your closet the entirety of basic, and then during the Ac Year, it's not a problem. Worst-case scenario, cadre will yell at you on I-Day, and then you'll leave them in your backpack locked in the cadre room until you absolutely need them.

I wore/brought my running shoes to BCT. They made life that much more comfortable the first day and quality training/running shoes that you've broken in some are way superior to those shoes they issue to you. I'd recommend two pairs only because you'll run so much that you'll wear them out in a month or two. A good pair of running shoes will only last about 300 miles before losing their support.

We bought two pairs and DS will take pair one to BCT and I’ll bring pair 2 to A day along with a few other things he wants/needs. We figure the first pair can get him through BCT at the very least & our friends with graduates have given the same advice so feeling good about our plan.
