Be Safe, Love Mom

Agree... Poor kid. Embarrassed and terrified of what will happen.

Must be a new generation....I don't think my parents would have ever dreamed of calling USNA ! I remember the advice of a high school guidance officer when my daughter started high school -- let your child be their own advocate ! Granted, there may be times for parents to get involved, but those should be few and far between and in extreme conditions.

New generation? It's baby boomers and early Gen Xers doing the calling.

Maybe it's time to open a FB account?!

You , Me, and My Husband...possibly the only 3 left in America without one. I feel like a Mushroom!

maybe I am a bit on the conservative side?

BTW...just dawned on me Who Elaine is... She served as a Moderator on the USNA parents e-mail forum for a number of years.....YA Know.... PRE-FACEBOOK :) I always found her to be upbeat and very informative. Haven't read the book. Just thought I would give her some support based on the reading of ALOT of e-mails.

Being a non military family I like the advice from Elaine's book as well as this forum. As one very strongly worded contributed has said above, ALL opinions are valid. Elaine has a view from a mothers perspective of usna as she did not attend the acadmy. Probably like most parents of Mids. The book however, is not just for acadmy parents but for those whose children enlist or make the military a career, as well. I like views from every source, knowing where they come from and that every opinion will be from their own point a view. Much like the poster said above. I take all the opinions and try to find the truth for me.
Elaine helped me greatly thru a difficult time. I had reached out to her because of her book and her contributions to the FB pages. Every connection can help down the road. I wouldn't not read the book....just know her perspective. Nothing she said frightened me about the academy and I knew nothing when my son entered since we are not a military family. Just MY opinion.
