Beast AMA

What was the hardest part for you?
Probably staying awake. I was more tired (and busy) during beast than I'd been in my whole life, and I'm sure it's only gonna get worse once the AY starts. The Med briefs are brutal, they're like 6-7 hours long and they go for like 5 days. It was rough, but you'll survive.

Congrats!!!! My daughter was with you when you finished. She is in F4 and is a prepster.

What did you learn? What was the most interesting thing that happened? What was the funniest thing that happened? What would you have done differently to prepare? What will you major in?

I learned so much it's kind of crazy. Obviously I learned practical things, like movement techniques and how to throw a grenade and stuff like that, but I also learned a lot about myself. I learned to never quit, and how to perform under pressure. It was a really insightful experience. The most interesting thing I would say was just all the little things that happened that made it fun. Like inside jokes with my roommates, trying not to laugh when getting yelled at, stuff like that. Funniest thing was definitely when my Sergeant made me rain-dance all the way back to the pavilion for reasons that aren't important, and don't ask me what the rain dance is. To prepare I definitely would have done more push-ups. They were my weakest exercise going in and I kind of didn't prepare at all. I mean I was fine, but it would have sucked a lot less if I showed up being able to crank out like 65 in a row like I can now. I'm thinking I'm going to major in GIS, which is Geospatial Information Science. It's like maps and computer modeling and stuff, it's pretty cool.

Sounds awesome, definitely makes me smile reading some of what you wrote. I used to do pushups every time a commercial would come on during regular programming, got up to over 150 then i would start slowing down until the program came back on. Wish you all the best and thank you for sharing and providing information to future plebes and other curious folks.
