I remember in Physics class at WP that the average grade in the class was a C. There were a couple of Ds and very few Bs and I think 1 A. This is in a class of less than 20 cadets.
There is grade deflation at West Point, not inflation.
I am pretty sure I earned a C- and was glad to get out of the class alive.
BTW, I studied my butt off for that class and saw the professor multiple times for extra help.
I graduated from WP with a 2.7 GPA (plebe year killed me) and was ranked right in the middle of WP class academically. That will tell you how hard the classes are and that the days of straight "A"s will be long gone for all but the truly brilliant.
