Beast supplies....socks?

SOCKS.

Some say not to worry about bringing socks, others recommend bringing extras. Here is what I have bought/am planning to bring - please advise if I need more of a particular pair.

Black dress socks - 4 pairs
Boot socks - 5 pairs (should I get the ARMY issued sock, or will it matter if my sock is a different brand..and tan instead of green)
Boot liners - 5 pairs
Crew socks - 8 pairs

Thanks in advance - I know this is trivial :w00t:

They're your feet.

"They're your feet" meaning:

-"It's a bit much that you spent 10 minutes composing an email about pairs of socks to bring when we're talking about FEET here. Feet."

OR

-"They're your feet!! How can you say that the topic is trivial when these dirty knubs will be carrying you for miles and miles throughout the summer. What could be more important? Even Lt. Dan should have emphasized to you how important feet/socks are. Don't you remember Forrest Gump?!?!"

Somewhere in between. My point is that there are as many boot/socks/moleskin/dress sock/liner recipes as there as there feet in the Army. If you're concerned about your feet, take socks. If you're not, don't. They're YOUR feet, and no one knows how to take care of them like you do.

I personally have never put more than moleskin on my feet, and that was only a few times. I wear GI socks and drive on. Some people wear 13 layers of $15 socks and sprinkle their feet with pixie dust before they even go for a jog. Neither way is better than the other. Everyone's paddles are different. Take care of yours by whatever means necessary.

I'm bringing two thin pairs of boot liners and three extra pairs of crew socks. I might not even take those. If you have dirty socks, wet them in your sink, wring them out, and let them dry. If you have stinky socks, well, you have stinky socks. Your feet won't stop smelling just because you have clean socks on.

Honestly, I think people are probably freaking out about bringing too much extra stuff. We should all be fine bringing boots, low quarters, a watch, a leatherman, maybe a bic or two, and some paperwork.
