Beast

here's a story to scare you.

I was playing Broomball at a Young Life tournament over February break when I twisted my knee. I had knee surgery on Friday to repaire my meniscus. Luckily its not a disqualifying injury, that is as long as its not ginving me problems when I report.

Of course I haven't heard if I've gotten in yet, but when I'm better I plan on running for an hour every day right after school. One of my buddies got into West Point so we will be training with each other.

3. Doing track. I do the mile, high jump, and discuss (I tried triple jump last meet, but I failed at that. I'd rather do safer events anyways. No pole vaulting for me!)

We had a kid die in middle school from a discuss to the head during a track meet. Just a side note. :frown: I guess anything can happen.

My girlfriend use to tripple jump and it is the funniest thing watching. This year though, she had to stop running and is doing javelin. I tease her because she looks like that girl from the appointment packet...like shes gonna kill somebody with that!! LOL

My son is a soccer player and will play soccer at the academy. He is currenty playing spring soccer with his high school team. The team is very dependant on him as he is the center midfielder, captain, top scorer etc. I cringe everytime he comes up limping or has any kind of injury. Anyone in this same position or can anyone give their point of view on an appointee playing a sport like soccer three months prior to I-Day.

That's really good! I understand your fear, I did soccer exclusively in the summer and fall, and it would seem like every other day I would get either the wind knocked out of me, my shins kicked really hard regardless I wear shin guards, or my ankles twisted. I definitely cannot afford to even practice soccer seriously until after the academy.

I have been lifting a great deal and watching what I eat. Cut back running alot since cross country. I can still run somewhat comfortably and I will soon get back to running.

On another note I am still skimboarding which probably isn't good because I could get hurt really easily. But my philosophy is if I am going to get hurt I will get hurt. I just want to enjoy what free time I have left.

My guys worked out together with another young man. They were running 35 miles/wk, even after one twin got bad shinsplints (running on asphalt will do that to you!). They were also swimming, and doing their weight lifting regimen. Paid off I guess since they were in shape when fencing started and the order of the day was running the stair tower for 45 minutes - before practice.

track etc.

My daughter is in a musical (Oklahoma!), and there is a lot of dancing and tossing of girls in the air.. I am just praying her partner doesn't miss the catch or step on her.
She is also in track and they meet 6 days a week..3 hours after school and 3 hours on Saturdays.. just set up gym time for her to work on those push and pull-ups. Unfortunately we live about 5 miles from the ocean.. so being at sea-level will be apparent.

I'm in track, do the 800, 1600, and 3200. its nice because after practice we do a large ab routine then ladder pushups, so thats keeping me in pretty good shape i guess. No chance for senioritis for me though :(. AP Lit and AP Government are making sure of that...along with lots of other stuff keeping me busy.

I hear ya on senioritis. As much as I wished I could relax back then, 7 AP classes stopped it! On the bright side, all that hard work made the transition much easier.

Is it bad that i'm kinda kicking back and letting auto pilot take it from here to the end of the year? at this point i'm so over high school it isnt even funny, and i cant wait for the start of something so much more meaningful. Hopefully its understandable how high school is the last thing on my list right now. (amazingly, i'm still maintaining A's tho..?)

But I have like half a month left of HS AFTER IB and AP tests are over! That's gonna be sooo boring!

Where in FL do you live? I'm close to Pensacola.
